This morning I applied what should be the last coat of gelcoat to the bottom of the dinghy. We'll see how it looks after it cures overnight. Then it will be time to flip the dinghy over and finish the inside.

Gelcoat
The first round of gelcoat is on. After it dries I'll sand with some fine grit paper and then buff it. This is an experiment for me since this is my first time using gelcoat.
Sanding
After the first sanding, the surface is almost smooth. One more round of filler and another sanding before painting with GelCoat.

Repairing the Dinghy
We holed our dinghy on one of our first crossings in the Bahamas this season. We did a rough fiberglass repair the day after, but there were a lot of gouges. Today, I'm using epoxy filler to fair the gouges and then I'll sand the areas smooth. After that, I'll apply some new gelcoat. I'll post some more pictures as we make progress.

Home, Sweet Home
We made it back to our slip in Annapolis yesterday and now we're cleaning up the boat and readjusting to life ashore. It's been a great trip! About 2500 miles, lots of good and some bad weather. Sensei was a good hostess throughout the trip with only one minor engine problem (a temperature sensor failed) which was remedied along the way.
Sinking
Not sure if this guy made it home. We came upon a sinking vessel yesterday as we passed Wolftrap. We called the Coast Guard and they were happy we located it. They already had a report and they were searching, so they arrived in 15 minutes, using our AIS beacon to vector in. No souls aboard. Nobody nearby.

Coinjock
We made it to Coinjock today, but slowly. When we left our anchorage, the starboard engine wouldn't spin up to cruising revs, so we backed it down to displacement speed (9 knots). I suspect the engine fuel filter is ready for a change, so we'll start there.

Slade Creek
Another easy run from Oriental to Slade Creek, just off the Pungo River. We have this place to ourselves.

Onslow Beach Bridge
The bridge is under maintenance, so we had to squeeze through the barges to get through, only 30 feet for the gap!

Early Morning Start
We had an early start and I always appreciate this time of day because of the light. We're safely in Southport for the night.
Heavy Equipment
We passed a tug hauling dredge pipes, assisted by an entourage of support tugs. It was a tight squeeze in the channel, but it all worked out fine.
