One Last Warm Day

We had a nice warm October day for the Schooner Race today. Not much wind, but the schooners still look great. (Photo by Mike)

New Transport!

We're going to try out scooters for transportation when we're traveling and don't have a car. These fold up and only weigh 38 pounds. (Hoping they're light enough to transfer in the dinghy!)

Box-o-Zincs

With most of our projects complete, it's time to start thinking about what spare parts and consumables to put onboard. This is the collection of zincs that we'll have in the locker in case any need to be replaced while we're underway this season.

Starlink

Today I replaced two failed breakers and completed the wiring for our new Starlink system, including a 48 volt DC power supply. I also installed the antenna mount on the cabin roof. So, the next time I'm at the boat I should be able to finish the installation and test everything. Fingers crossed…

Making Room

Today I'm removing the Direct TV dish to make room for installing the Starlink antenna. We never used the Direct TV service, so clearing out this area makes sense.

Goodnight, Shaw Bay

Friends Aboard

We had friends aboard for the music in Shaw Bay. Fun day!

Starlink

Today we're testing our satellite internet connection. It's working great! (169 MBps). We'll mount the antenna on the roof for a permanent installation.

Shaw Bay

Sensei is hanging on her anchor in Shaw Bay. Yesterday, we had a day of music on the water and lots of socializing with friends. The event was sponsored by the RiverKeepers of our local waterways to raise money for their operations.

Fun with Family

We had a great day of boating with the family. Lunch at Stan and Joe's on the West River was a highlight of the day.

Home, sweet home

We're back in our home port and enjoying some time aboard.

Underway!

We left the yard today and the birds celebrated by enjoying a nice meal of the fish we stirred up in our wake. Everything is running well and we're happy to have Sensei back.

Ship’s Clock

We received our clock back from Weems and Plath today. The movement had become unreliable, so they replaced the mechanism. Even though we can get all this info from our phones, I really like timing the tides with the clock. It's always reporting the info and I can see it just by glancing over at it.

In the Spa

She's looking pretty good as her spa treatment nears completion.

Progress

The bottom painting is done and it's pretty. The bow pulpit rail is back on, and most of the engine maintenance is complete. Hoping to be back in the water soon!

Bow Pulpit

The bow pulpit is back aboard and installed. Another item checked off the list.

Coolant Pipe

These two pieces of the cooling system are supposed to be one piece. We're happy our mechanic found the leak. We'll be replacing this part sometime this week. One more step forward.

Pulpit Repaired

The repaired pulpit is ready to re-install. This should be completed this week.

Bow Pulpit Fix

A new section has been tack welded into the bow pulpit. The railing
will be removed and taken to the welder's shop for final welding and
polishing. Once complete, the repaired pulpit will be reinstalled.

Spa Treatment

Sensei is in the shed for her annual maintenance. She'll be back on the water in a couple of weeks, refreshed and ready for the next adventure.

Energize

From this display you can see the solar panel voltage climb at sunrise and shortly thereafter, it starts to supply power for charging the batteries. This test was performed at the dock with no overnight loads. I'm looking forward to trying it again at anchor with typical loads.

Solar

We're installing solar panels on Sensei today. Looking forward to all of those "free" amp hours!

Fireworks!

It rained a bit, but we still got to see fireworks on Round Bay last night!

Amp Hour Meter

We just installed a Victron amp hour meter to keep track of how our house batteries are doing. This will make it a lot easier to know when to run the generator, and how long to run it for. Ideally, we work our batteries between 60-90% charged, where the generator is most efficiently used to generate charging amps.

This meter also monitors the engine starting battery bank voltage, which would have been really handy to have back when those batteries were dying.
