Home

When we pass under the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, we know we're home. We completed roughly 1300 miles at sea upon our arrival. Here's to Sensei for being a great boat.

Rough Ride!

We had a rough ride up the Delaware Bay today. The Bay is notorious for tough conditions when there is wind against tide. Thankfully, this was only a couple hours of uncomfortable seas before things smoothed out. The ride down the Chesapeake was delightful after this!

South Jersey

We have taken a slip in Cape May for the evening. Nice to have continuous electricity and water! Onward to the Chesapeake tomorrow.

NYC

NYC

Farewell NYC, you never fail to impress us.

Goodnight, Atlantic Highlands

Atlantic Highlands

Our view from behind the sea wall at Atlantic Highlands. We tucked in here to escape the west wind, since the Sandy Hook anchorage to the north is unprotected from that direction.

La Guardia

Passing through NYC today we found ourselves right on the flight path for La Guardia Airport. Perfect passage today with the current in our favor.

Sensei in Port Washington

In the harbor near NYC while we determine our weather window for transiting the Jersey coast. Probably just one night before we continue. Picture courtesy of a fellow EB owner.

Port Washington

We're on a mooring for the evening. We met another Eastbay owner at the fuel dock and he invited us to meet for dinner to talk about adventures. Should be interesting…

Oyster Bay

We had a rough ride down LI Sound, so we pulled into Oyster Bay to hunker down before Hurricane Erin passes by. The weather has turned cloudy and rainy, but it's currently calm in the harbor.

Running South

We had an easy run south to Plymouth today, where we will wait out some strong winds.

Erin

No summer trip would be complete without hurricane planning. Erin will be approaching us later this week, so we'll be watching closely to see if we need to run for cover. In this graphic there is a small probability of strong winds around Cape Cod, but we'll be playing it safe. We can run west through Long Island Sound if needed.

Reunion

In Marblehead, Suzan had the chance to catch up with her high school friends!

Close Quarters

When the wind dies, things get wonky in the mooring field. Boats start pointing in all directions and contact is a real possibility. We're keeping an eye out and we'll fend off if the boats get too close to each other.

Marblehead

This is the largest mooring field I've ever been in. Sensei is out there somewhere!

Marblehead

Cold Front

We had another thunderstorm last evening, heralding a cold front passing over us. Clear, breezy, and cool today.

Gloucester

Clearing skies this morning, after a strong downpour last night. Even though the winds were never stronger than 20 knots, one boat dragged anchor just outside the mooring field. The owners were onboard and re-anchored without too much drama.

Incoming Storm

Lightning on the horizon, wind up to 19 knots…

Thatcher Island

Along our route today. It was a bumpy ride but Sensei did fine with it.

Portland

We had dinner with friends at "Scales" last evening. It was great to catch up with friends who are also cruising.

Water

We're in Bucks Harbor for fuel and water.

Sensei After Dark

Eric and Eveleen joined us for dinner aboard, and took this picture as they headed back to shore.

Sedgwick

Almost a full moon tonight.

Sedgwick

It's a beautiful day in Sedgwick! We had an easy run from Northeast Harbor this morning, just 20 miles.
