We're taking a little break from the boat, but we'll be continuing on, come January.

ICW Videos
We're grateful to a number of people who have recorded us transiting the ICW over the last month. Here's a video that illustrates the daily life on the waterway.

Lift Off
After experiencing the flooding around Charleston this week, we weren't surprised to see this project: raising the house by a few feet.

This is Bad
The storm coming up the coast today brought flooding that filled the parking lot at our marina. We had borrowed a car from Suzan's cousin and it was flooded with water, some of which got inside and the transmission won't shift into gear now. We're working on getting it towed to a shop to get it sorted out. Fingers crossed for a quick turnaround, even though there are lots of cars in the same situation.
Wind
We've seen gusts to 26 knots, so far, in our marina. There have been gusts to 40 knots in the outer harbor. Glad to be tucked in.
Wet!
Today is slated to be a wet, windy, gray day. This seems like a good time to catch up on reading a good book.

We spent some time walking through downtown today, shopping and checking out the Christmas decorations.

Maintenance
Since we have some time at the dock this is a good opportunity to get some maintenance tasks completed. Today we're replacing our fuel transfer pump. The old one recently failed, and it's important to be able to access the fuel in our auxiliary tanks when we go to remote places.
We also serviced all of the sea strainers that supply cooling water to the engines, generator, and air conditioners. We found a bunch of weeds in the generator strainer, but the others were all clear.
Getting these small things squared away gives us more confidence in the boat, which makes the trip a lot more fun.

FIG
So, tonight we actually got into FIG for dinner. We've been to Charleston quite a few times but never managed to get a spot there. Great dinner with our friends, Jim and Stephanie.

Charleston
This picture is from the final leg of our trip to Charleston this morning. We arrived safely and are getting settled in. The social calendar is already getting busy as we make plans to meet up with friends and family around town!

Anchored
We are anchored just off the Waccamaw River for the night. Just two more days before we arrive in Charleston.
Good Morning, Wrightsville
It was 36 degrees this morning and the docks and the decks had frost on them. That makes for a bit of a surprise when you step off the boat! Fortunately, nobody fell. We're underway on a clear, crisp morning.

Leaving Beaufort
Sensei left Beaufort today and made Wrightsville Beach by 4:00. It was a little breezy today but we were under the protection of the ICW, so it was a pleasant day on the water.
Cruising with Friends
We've had the pleasure of cruising along with our friends Amanda and Andy for the last few days. So great to get to hang out in Beaufort.

Beaufort
We're experiencing PTSD! I can't believe we're in the same configuration as last time with a Fleming across from us.
To Beaufort
We had a perfect day for a quick run to Beaufort. Calm seas, and mostly clear skies. We had some light fog in the Neuse River for a short while.

More Fog
This is our view this morning. So, we have decided to stay here an extra day so that we don't have to navigate in zero visibility. Staying flexible should keep us out of trouble!
